Forward thinking is what Greenheart Global is all about. A green product development, manufacturing, design and distribution company, this B Corp considers not just production but disposal as well. While most design companies feel their task is complete as soon as the product leaves the cash register, Greenheart Global conceptualizes the entire life-cycle. Made from highly recycled and recyclable materials, each piece is sustainable from birth to death. As Gary Barker, President and CEO, states, “consumerism will not stop, so we’d better design better products that are appropriate both for use and the time when use is over”.
Designing to keep things out of landfills, Greenheart Global searched for an ubiquitous product that would truly create an impact. The answer? Clothing hangers. Strewn throughout our closets, stores and landfills, the clothing hanger is everywhere. Unfortunately it is normally created from environmentally hazardous plastic. Replacing these with durable, 100% recycled and highly recyclable paper Ditto Hangers is one of the best solutions available. With customers ranging from Gap, Adidas and LL Bean, Greenheart Global is really beginning to make its mark. Receiving multiple industrial design awards, the hangers are easily shipped and printed upon, while still functioning and looking great. With such an innovative product, it’s no surprise this B Corp is finally seeing a shift in the way companies and consumers think about design.
When designing their biggest product, the business itself, Greenheart Global maintained its rigorous standards. Forming a green business from the ground up, they are sure to certify everything from their factories to their materials. After a thorough search, it was only the B Corp standard that was stringent and powerful enough to certify the company itself. For this reason, Greenheart Global is proud to count itself among the community of over 300 B Corps.
Thinking about their own future, Greenheart Global plans to continue creating their ground-breaking Ditto Hangers. There exists a giant market which desperately needs to shift from waste to sustainability. However, this is not to say that new products are not in the works. Next up? Possibly an institutional trash can from 100% recycled material or even a home and business storage system. Whichever it may be, you can be sure the entire lifecycle will be taken into account.
Until then, redesign your own closet and Better Know this B.
